I know people don't take it seriously, but the IPA Satellite Awards nominations came out today, and "Inception" took the most nominations. The International Press Academy are former members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Golden Globes people, who split off over disagreements a few years ago. And I must say, the Satellite Awards hold true promise for me personally - "Animal Kingdom" and "A Film Unfinished" , which were both snubbed by the Spirit Awards yesterday, both picked up nominations, the former in several catagories. Go Satellites!

Winners will be announced December 19th at their annual ceremony in Los Angeles.
Tomorrow - The National Board of Review will hand out their honors. Top odds are on "The Social Network" for them, but we'll see. The NBR are not reviewers, nor are they critics - they're a highly snooty group in NY who love to court Warner Brothers films, along with Clint Eastwood and George Clooney. The last several years, they've left off some important films, and a number of mucky mucks were "incensed" that NBR favored "Star Trek" on their top 10 while snubbing the darling of the season last year, "Precious". I love to watch Roger Friedman sputter and spout about how horrible the NBR people are every year, and tomorrow will be no exception. Here's hoping NBR can also find some love for "Animal Kingdom", "A Film Unfinished", "It's Kind Of A Funny Story", and "Conviction", among many others this year...we'll know tomorrow...see ya then.
Oh and by the way, head on over to Indie Film Spotlight for the first list of competitiors at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival - Larry Richman has the complete list at http://indiefilmspotlight.com!
