PNR Online Film Festival: "Letting Go" a mini-masterpiece

LETTING GO
STARS:THOM ADAMS, NICHOLAS MASUCCI
DIRECTOR:DAN MASUCCI
In the world of short films, one finds a wonderous amount of quality packed into a few short minutes. That is, after all, one of the reasons why weve started the PNR Online Film Festival - to bring your attention to some of these gems, as well as some full-length projects as well.
Letting Go is one of the little gems, and manages to tell it's entire story - about changes in life and growing up - in just under four minutes. And you know director Dan Masucci is doing something right when he can make Kim cry in that short period of time.
The film is a simple story of father and son - the son, having reached the ripe old age of ten, has decided he's now older and no longer needs to sleep with his blankey. His father remembers the trauma of putting his own blankey in storage years before, and the ceremony of putting the blankey away is in many ways far harder on the father than on the son.
The movie reminds us that change in our lives is inevitable, and that sometimes, getting older doesn't necessarily mean you've grown up completely.
The film was originally made as an audition reel for the new Mark Burnette-produced reality film series ON THE LOT. Although it didn't make it to the group of finalists, it probably should have. It's a delightful little charmer that reawakens the little child in everyone.
Director Masucci is now submitting the film to various film festivals, and I have to say that whatever festivals choose to screen it will be putting a little smile on the faces of the audience members.
It is for films like this that we created the Popcorn N Roses Online Film Festival, to point the way to some great little gems. And we are pleased to welcome Letting Go to an ever growing list of Official Selections of the PNR Online Film Festival.
