Subject:CINEMA #45 - Directors' Chair #3 - Good EEEEVENING! The Films of Alfred Hitchcock

This week, we salute one of filmdom's greatest...the legendary Alfred Hitchcock. We've been trying to do this one for almost six months, and if I say so myself, I think it's turned out to be one of the best shows we've ever done. Because of time constraints, we are only doing six of our favorite films by Hitch, but we think you'll like what we've done...

THE SHOW (Times may be slightly off due to Podshow insertions):
Segment 1 (1:30) - An overview of Hitch's remarkable career as well as his personal life
Segment 2 (18:57) - Rebecca; North By Northwest
Segment 3 (35:49) - Rear Window; The Birds
Segment 4 (55:20) - The usual stuff, this weeks' trivia contest, e-mail, Bonehead of the Week
Between segments 4 and 5 (1:15:35) - guest movie reviewer Rob CollIer reviews "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"
Segment 5 (1:19:00) - Psycho ; Family Plot

THIS WEEK'S NOTES:

Welcome to our new listeners! Whereever you've come from, we're glad to see you!  Please drop a line and introduce yourselves.

Speaking of which...e-mail, voice mail, and hotline calls are how we keep in touch with our listeners. Our e-mail segments are always fun to do, but we can't do them if you don't write!  So if you want to hear your name on the air, you have to do your part too...heh heh heh...

Thanks to "The Pit" for the great Hitchcock sound clips!  They have a wonderful horror wav file archive, and it was most useful in our production this week!

Quick note - I missed a goof in segment one - it's about 5 seconds long, and it's me asking Kim to redo one of her statements - sorry I missed it, but sometimes, these little things happen...I'll be more careful next time, I promise....DON'T HURT ME!!! :-)

Just for s**ts and giggles, don't forget to support our choice of champion for Dancing With The Stars, Apolo Anton Ohno. You can vote 10 times per phone line, as well as 10 more times online, each Monday evening (calls) or all day Tuesday (online). Apolo's vote number is 1-800-868-3411 and votes are free! The phone line is open in your timezone from the beginning of the show until 30 minutes after the conclusion...

We'll have a TON of Hitchcock movies in our new SuperStore, which will debut in about two weeks. And don't forget the upcoming swag shop either. Both will debut around April 15 or so. And don't forget that within the next few days, Popcorn N Roses and Subject:CINEMA will be MERGING into one site, featuring more great stuff than ever before!

NEXT WEEK: Here's The Easter Rabbit, Hooray!

For Subject:CINEMA, I'm TC Kirkham. Be There. Aloha.

THIS WEEK'S NOTES

Kim and I are NOT Kurosawa experts or fanatics; this is our attempt to give props to one of the great geniuses of the film industry. As usual, craziness ensues at times, and we hope you take it as it's meant - as our tribute to a directing legend.

If you haven't noticed, the site continues to get better and better, and we hope you'll utilize the contact pad below to write or voicemail us, to pass the word about the show to your friends, to visit the other sites we have for the show, and also to vote for us at Podcast Alley and Digg.

The "Marquee Mix" special edition of our recent favorite movie hits show will NOT be heard tonight as we mentioned in the show - we've decided to push it back a couple more weeks and premiere it when the new Marquee Mix site premieres. Watch for more information!

Welcome to this new feature! Every week we'll be featuring a different film-oriented clip - be it scene, trailer, or interview!

TC's number one Rising Star of 2006, Michael Angarano, had his latest movie, "Snow Angels" make it's world premiere on Friday, January 19 at the Sundance Film Festival. In this clip, Michael talks a little about how he prepared for his role as "Arthur Parkinson".

Side Note - Kim discovered an error when listening to the show this week...in Segment Five, when talking about Jay's "Silence Of The Lambs" parody, Kim inadvertently said "Buffalo Bob". She of course meant "Buffalo Bill" - blame it on severe heat problems - the studio we have does NOT have air conditioning and it was around 95 degrees when we recorded the show...even with the two fans that you can hear on the show in the background....to quote our favorite Mythbuster, Jamie Hyneman..."Ah, Whoops!"...)
