Hey all,
After all the work that went into the 200th show last weekend and some technical issues that have been cropping up over the past couple of days, we've decided to take this weekend off, and have updated our schedule accordingly. I apologize for the short notice, but I know our loyal listeners and readers know this happens from time to time.
We've loaded a partial schedule for next year through our 2010 Summer Preview Special on the PNR calendar, and have moved our "Athletic Thespians" show to late January to accommodate our plans for the next few months. Since that particular show was originally conceived to spotlight Tooth Fairy, the upcoming film starring Dwayne Johnson (former pro wrestler) and Ryan Sheckler (current skateboard heartthrob...er, superstar), I've moved it to be featured on the weekend where the film is being released, so that we can hopefully include a review of the film as part of the show.
In any case, there will be a new edition of Video Revue up later today, so be sure to check it out, and join us back here next Sunday for a brand new Subject:CINEMA!
Following in the footsteps of other speciality clubs, Oscilloscope Pictures, the quirky indie film label founded by Beastie Boy Adam Yauch and ThinkFilm veteran David Fenkel is starting a direct-mail DVD club.
The Hollywood Reporter's Steven Zeitchik says that the club will be $150 for ten forthcoming releases by the indie brand.

Over the next couple weeks, PNR is preparing for Subject:CINEMA to celebrate 200 episodes. We're very excited that we've made it this far, and we want our listeners to celebrate with us.
For the past two weeks on the show, we've asked our listeners to send in audio clips about why they listen to the show, to include on our 200th show and also to be included in a new publicity campaign. Thus far, however, we've only received a couple of clips from our listeners. So now is the time to get involved.
We really want to know who you are, where you're at, what you think of the show, why you listen, and why you're a Subject:CINEMA fan. So we're coming to you to ask you once again to let us know in the form of a quick voice clip. You can either record something on your computer and email it to us in an MP3 or WMA form at subjectcinema@popcornnroses.com, or you can call our TOLL FREE Hotline, 1-888-214-9311 - this number is open and ready for your call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
I'm making a personal plea to hear from all our listeners. If we get overwhelmed, so be it - we'll just continue to use clips as we can on each successive show. But we're gonna get as many as we can in our 200th show.
Please don't sit back and think, "Oh, I don't REALLY need to send in a clip, they'll have plenty to use" because the fact is, we CAN NEVER have too many!! And if you don't send one in, you won't get heard on the podcast!
So come on, everyone! Let's hear from as many of you as we possibly can! We need your clips by Friday, November 20 at 6 PM! We're looking forward to having you be our special guests on our 200th show!
TC and Kim take a look at the end of the world...literally!
On this edition, we head towards the many ways Hollywood has caused the end of the planet, all in anticipation (?) of the new Rolland Emmerick film 2012, opening this coming weekend!
PLUS: an EXCLUSIVE interview from the hit indie film Still Green, with Sons Of Anarchy co-star Sarah Jones!

Plus: the Bonehead Of The Week, the latest happenings on the PNR Pipeline, the latest on the new Michael Angarano film Gentlemen Broncos, and a review of The Swell Season in concert in Boston!

Like everyone else, we were lambs rushing for the slaughter. And we were apparently wrong.
IndieFilmSpotlight's Larry Richman has confirmed that the release of Michael Angarano's new movie Gentlemen Broncos WILL go on as scheduled this Friday, albeit on a much scaled back plan than before.
The film IS still opening in the Boston market tomorrow, and will also open in a number of other markets, but not as wide as originally thought. Initial reports that spread throughout the internet were based on several websites posting information that turned out to be slightly erroneous, coming from inside sources that were usually considered to be reliable. My guess is that the person sending the info to those sites didn't know all they should have, but rather wanted to get word out to the masses first.
We'll have full info on this story this weekend on Subject:CINEMA. I smell a "Bonehead Of The Week" in the making...
Fox Searchlight today quietly cancelled the rollout of Michael Angarano's new movie Gentlemen Broncos, which was to have happened on Friday.
The movie has barely had any business since opening in NY and LA last weekend, and Roger Ebert twittered today that the Chicago opening had been cancelled, and several sites also confirmed that the Austin opening had been axed.
Although the film had some word of mouth that was decent if not stellar, the critical reception to the latest film by offbeat director Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre) has been nothing short of savage, with most critics dismissing the film as absolutely incomprehensible and filled with completely unlikeable characters.
Listeners of Subject:CINEMA know that this movie has NOT been on my favorites list, and that I thought, just based on the trailer, that it was NOT going to be a real coup in Michael Angarano's career once released. It was only my loyalty to Michael that I was even planning to see it.
Ironically, I posted the trailer to Trailer Trash and Treats just today...wow, talk about irony...
We hope to have more on this story and why it happened on this weekend's edition of Subject:CINEMA, so be sure to check it out.
